A heartbreaking tragedy struck the city of Dayton on Friday night, October 10, when 5-year-old Legaci Deshawn was shot and killed during a shooting incident on Nicholas Road.
According to the Dayton Police Department, officers responded to multiple 911 calls around 9:30 p.m., reporting gunfire in the area. One caller reported that a man had been shot, while another claimed that a young child was also struck by gunfire. Tragically, that child was identified as Legaci Deshawn, a 5-year-old girl who was reportedly in her father’s arms when the shooting occurred.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene as medics and police rushed to the location. Despite immediate medical attention, Legaci did not survive her injuries. Her death has left the Dayton community in deep shock and mourning.
Her mother, Mychael Howard, 27, expressed her grief in a heart-wrenching Facebook post, writing,
“YALL BITCHES SHOT MY FUCKING DAUGHTER!!! SOMEBODY GOTTA FUCKING DIE!!!!”
In another post, she added,
“Fly high my baby. I know auntie Toni got you, booty. ❤️ Molly Perxocet, hold that down.”
The emotional outpouring continued across social media as friends and family shared their condolences and prayers.
Meesh Bee commented,

Another friend, Jay Wayy, reflected on a memory of little Legaci, writing,
“The last time I saw you, you pulled up to drop Anni off with Legaci in the car. At your repass, she came up to me saying she was tired, so I held her for a while… I just can’t wrap my head around this. It hasn’t even been a year yet since you’ve been gone — now Legs 😡💔 Take care of her, baby.”
As the investigation continues, Dayton police have yet to release details about the suspect or the motive behind the shooting. Officers remained on the scene late into the night, and medics were called in to assist the victims.
